Kevätpäiväntasaus — Vernal Equinox is a dialogue between two visual artists made into an installation. The vernal equinox is a turning point between the spring sunlight and the passing winter, in which the dead and fallen flora is still present but nature is preparing itself to a frenzy of growth. Regarding the materials of the installation our interest lies in a metamorphosis of the man-made and natural.

The timing of the installation is related to its theme. The vernal equinox of this year takes place on Sunday 20th March. On the day of the equinox we have a special event; we would like to invite you to enjoy the installation and celebrate the beginning of springtime!

Eini Knuutinen (MA) has a background in textile arts and design, and she uses a variety of techniques and materials in her work. At the moment she’s working on making foraged plant material into delicate sculpturelike forms and surfaces.

Veera-Maija Murtola (MA) is a scenographer, visual designer and performance artist. Murtola’s principal occupation is working as a scenographer in the field of theatre and performance art, though creating visual art from a more personal perspective has become a greater interest to them in recent years.
