Tuisku Ojanperä: tulva/turva
26.-30.7.2025 at 14-18
Vernissage on Fri 25.7. at 18-19:30
Floods and intimate relationships have surprisingly much in common.
Tulva/turva explores these connections through works that borrow their form from photo albums, slam books, and home videos.
The exhibition is based on a methodical practice carried out by Ojanperä during the summers of 2022–2024, centered around the goal of swimming in as many different places as possible and documenting them. In the first summer, they visited 47 swimming spots, the next year 90, and in 2024 a total of 116.
Tulva/turva is the third part of a larger body of work titled A List of Swimming Places. The previous parts are I: Olen tulessa and II: Pakofantasia (muistio).
Tuisku Ojanperä is a visual artist living and working in Helsinki. They graduated in 2020 from the Photography program at the Arts Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences. Ojanperä’s works draw on autofictional material such as texts, photographs, videos, and their soundtracks. A central part of her practice is the use of various methods, including collecting material without yet knowing its intended use.
