8.-16.6.2021 Tatu Rönkkö: Syövereistä

Open during the exhibition daily from 2 to 7 p.m.

'Syövereistä' is Tatu Rönkö's (b. 1983) first solo exhibition, which features a collection of fresh ink drawings completed in 2021 and works of art sewn together from orange peel. Dark and detailed drawings are a peek into a place, space, or dimension we cannot see. This mystical world comes from the deep blood within us, not so much from the depths of the seas or spaces.

Better known as a sound artist and drummer, Rönkkö is a self-taught visual artist. He grew up in a family of visual artists in Kuopio in the 1980s and began to perceive the world by drawing before learning to speak. Drawing was a long-standing passion No. 1 until music became patterns. But no picture of anything disappeared. “The pictorial expression comes from the same source as the music. Drawing feels to me like a native speaker without words; very intuitive and natural, ”says Rönkkö.
