Group exhibition: Support exhibition for anti-nuclear work9.8. - 14.8.2016

A number of artists are organizing an exhibition to support ongoing anti-nuclear work. Half of the proceeds from the works for sale go to the author of the work and half to anti-nuclear work. The construction of Fennovoima's new Pyhäjoki nuclear power plant has received criticism from many parties. The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority STUK has stated that it is concerned about the safety culture of Fennovoima's nuclear power plant project and demands more open management practices from the company, as well as additional studies on the expertise and experience in the nuclear power industry. Accidents involving rushing and negligence have occurred at the construction sites of the power plant's chief designer, Rosatom's subsidiary Atomproekt in Sosnovyi Bor and in Ostrovets, Belarus. According to surveys conducted by both Helsingin Sanomat and the environmental organization WWF, only a third of the respondents in Finland support and half oppose Fennovoima's nuclear power plant in Pyhäjoki.

The organization of a protest camp, several demonstrations and events in Pyhäjoki has increased the awareness of the issue. With this exhibition, the artists want to show their support for the struggle.

The exhibition is organized as part of the Musta Kallio City Festival,
