Hukkapalat is the sixth exhibition of the collective Hukkaper's two-year tour and its first appearance in Helsinki. According to the name of the exhibition, the ensemble is built from surplus materials, discovered objects and raw stones from old sculptures. The works in the exhibition have been created in collaboration with the sculptural message technology developed by the collective itself. Its idea is to recycle semi-finished sculptures from one author to another, utilizing the special expertise and unique handprint of each artist. Thus, the end result is always an unpredictable, in many respects improvised sculptural piece.
The collective consists of three young sculptors, Einari Leskinen, Ilai Elias Lehto and Leena Reittu. The artists oversee the exhibition and are present daily. During the exhibition, new works will also be created in the gallery space as part of a continuous sculptural message.
