Outi Kokkonen: RECONNECT, RECOVER 19.-22.3.2021

Opening hours:

Fri-Mon 12-18

”RECONNECT, RECOVER” focuses on one’s relationship with nature and examines the values, feelings of connection and fear of loss that come with it. The pieces depict humans as a part of a larger whole and emphasize both the importance of biophilia - the innate connection one has with nature - as well as the far-reaching complications that follow when this connection is forgotten.

Utilising bold colours and contrasts, the pieces convey powerful emotions and make one stop to reflect on life in terms of biophilia. The exhibition aims at evoking this sense of connection in the audience as well.

The pieces in the exhibition are varied in technique. Clay sculptures, oil paintings, oil pastel and mixed media pieces coexist in harmony and create a vibrant whole.

“RECONNECT, RECOVER“ is a melancholic love letter to nature, a celebration of its beauty and a plea for its protection.
